Long-lasting sorbitol-based surfactant functions as a molecular sieve to separate precipitates from aqueous solutions, making it an ideal surfactant for most separation applications. The addition of aqueous surfactants from the sample loading tube prevents sorbitol-based surfactants and proteins from settling on the walls of a microtube or crucible tube. This surfactant function allows aqueous samples to settle to the bottom of a conical tube for better time-to-centrifuge recovery. However, the clarity of the resulting precipitates may be reduced by the retention time of the surfactant. Ensure sample tube is tightly secured by the sedimentation paddles and keep the skirt of the surfactant as close to the wall of the trap as possible. Centrifuge without rotor is also an option. Centrifuge rotor with rotor handle not included.
