The Labnet International Mini Vertical Gel System (VGL) is an excellent addition to the Labnet International GenEngage line of instruments. Specifically designed for horizontal casting methods, the Mini Vertical Gel System has a number of advantages over horizontal gel casting, namely, it allows casting in standard horizontal wells that are twice as deep as standard horizontal gels, the gels run much faster, there is less sample loss when running, a reduction of sample volume, a decrease in gel handling, and space required between wells is minimized. Additionally, the separation of wells is optimized, since there is less risk of sample retention with vertically stacked wells. Additionally, each individual well is full-depth, which maximizes the amount of useful information that a user obtains. One disadvantage of vertical gels is that samples must be positioned and handled differently. The Labnet International GenEngage comes as a 2mm thick spacer, which allows for thicker separations without the use of extra horizontal spacers. Each 2mm thick gel spacer comes with a Certificate of Conformity (Circularity) and conformation (Silicone).
