will the 7-9" be usable on an ar15 with a 30 round magazine on flat ground or would i need the 9-12"? Expert Answer

The 9" - 12" Leapers UTG Recon Flex II Bipods would be the most usable option for an AR15 with a 30 round magazine. A 30 round PMAG measures just under 12" from the base of the magazine to the bottom of the handguard. Depending on terrain or your specific setup, you may still make contact with the ground with your magazine.

I use these on both of my rifles now, 5.56 and .308. The legs are made of metal and there is a screw that locks them in place so there is no movement. Spring loaded so they pop out easily as well, would most definitely recommend.
