Lee #14 Auto Prime Shell Holder For 38-40 Win./44-40 Win. - The Auto Prime Shell Holder (Size #14) is a unique tool used exclusively with the Lee Auto Prime priming machine. Once loaded into the machine, the shell holder keeps the primer centered and aligned in the case mouth allowing the most consistent possible velocity and accuracy. It reduces the amount of hand loading needed when the majority of primer is already present in the case mouth. When the primer is almost fully inserted the excess primer falls to the bottom of the case mouth where it can be discarded. This also helps prolong the life of the cartridge and eliminates spilled primer. This larger sized shell holder also eliminates some of the spilling that occurs when the cartridge is withdrawn from the press. Because this shell holder is specifically designed to work with the Auto Prime priming machine the chance of contamination to primers and the possibility of contamination from primer used in very small amounts is reduced. The only difference between this holder and the larger batch holders is that this one has an identifying number stamped on the shell holder we call the "Unprinted Number" and that it fits the Auto Prime machine. All other shell holders are sized to simply fit the standard reloading press.
