A crimp die, also known as a roll or compression crimp die, is a die used to crimp the projectile until a groove or a bullet-crimp groove forms but does not form until the die is rotated. The purpose of a crimp die is to keep the bullet or projectile from sliding off during normal firing. The purpose of a crimp die, according to the instructions of the manufacturer, is to apply a specific amount of crimp when the die is rotated off the bullet or projectile.
