The Monstrum Raven Series scopes are fixed magnification prism scope optics - available in 1.5x and 3x. They offer similar functionality to red dot sights for rapid short range target acquisition, but use a glass prism optical system with etched glass reticle instead of the projected laser dots used in traditional red dot sights. Why choose a prism scope over a red dot sight? Sharper reticle than a red dot sight Red dot reticles are projected using a laser reflecting against a plane of glass and can result in a starburst effect at higher brightness intensities. They can be notoriously blurry for shooters with astigmatism. Prism scope reticles are etched in glass, produces less distortion than a red dot, and are easier for the eye to focus on, especially for shooters with astigmatism. Works with or without illumination Red dot reticles require both a powered laser source and an on/off mechanism. This makes them susceptible to running out of battery power or to malfunction.
