The Nunclon® process technology for developing and manufacturing molecularly oriented drugs and monomers is based on the unique manufacturing process of Eastman Kodak. To develop and manufacture this product Eastman Kodak was awarded a patent for a method of producing multiwalled microporous glass. The basic material of this glass was formulated to tolerate the intense conditions of organic solvent extraction. The vacuum in the manufacturing process left residual moisture to form a protective surface that reduced the solubility of the organic solvents. During the manufacturing process extra care was taken to ensure that no residual odor or contamination would result from the filling process. To date this method has not been employed in production of any drugs or monomers.
