The unique closure system consists of a chemically inert collet crown nut that tightens against a bulb within the drawtube, causing it to expand, forcing the contents to expand with the tube. The drawtube expands to contain the expanding gas or liquid and the closed, shrinking collet stem to rest at an angle within the shrink tube. This design makes the drawtube useful for sampling and venting requirements. The color of the glass stem and drawtube is not affected. With Corning Stems and Drawtubes, only the sealing ring and the drawtube are affected. The color of the stem and drawtube are the same as the colorless finish of the stem and drawtube. The color of the drawtube is the same as the finish on the drawtube. To ensure color continuity, the Stem and drawtube must be the same size. Once the drawtube is closed, the outer collet must be broken off.
