The VorPak sealing ring is a fully autoclavable, lid that opens and locks automatically, sealing pressure until centrated. The vacuum remains until the lid is opened, creating a vacuum within the hood. When sealing is broken, the vacuum remains on the outside, remaining clear throughout the centrifuge run. The sealing ring assures that the lid and hood remain under vacuum throughout the run. When sealing is broken, the hood remains intact and the hood remains where it was before the lid was closed. A secondary ring ensures the hood remains leak-proof. The auxiliary ring is an empty nut that retains the cover gasket. There is an O-ring underneath the cover, but since the ring is not pinned to the lid, the leak is prevented.
