With .27 Nosler ammo, the Oregon-based Nosler upgraded the .270 caliber with modern materials and ballistics for improved long range performance. The cartridge design is comprised of the 165 grain AccuBond bullet and Nosler's Trophy Grade quality. According to Nosler, the result is flatter trajectory, higher energy retention, and reduced wind draft when compared to traditional cartridges of the same caliber.
The .27 Nosler, like its predecessors .270 Win. and .270 WSM, will take down medium to large sized game like deer, elk, sheep, bears, and pronghorn. The .27 Nosler measures in at 3,158 fps while packing 3,653 ft-lbs of energy. The .27 Nosler brass is based on the 404 Jeffrey Same case, a cartridge designed to take down the "big five" of African game.
The .27 Nosler 165 gr AccuBond uses a long range bullet design, introduced in 2018, that is tested using, among other things, a Doppler radar. By measuring the velocity from a distance, Nosler said it verifies the accuracy of its testing, so when the company says .27 Nosler travels at 2,010 fps at 800 yards, you can trust them.
