The adsorber-coated 5-pole LUF/ISO cell is particularly useful for measuring low conductivity liquids such as gasoline (oils, syrups, and petrochemicals) in well boring machines, production lines, and other applications where a discernible amount of light is needed to achieve a good mixing. In addition to the typical LUF or ILO applications, an LUF/ILO cell can be used for applications involving suspended solids as well as liquids. A number of solvent-resistant features characterize the LUF/ILO cell. An abrasion-resistant ring encapsulates a glass electrode that is susceptible to attack by most solvents. However, the LUF cell is different in that the ion-paint coating is much more durable and is not as easily affected by most solvents. An incorporated dielectric constant improves the longevity of the cell. A solder-free and vacuum-sealed process cable is also incorporated to protect the LUF cell from attack by strong solvents. A filtered and double shielded cable is inserted into the LUF cell. The diversionary current is controlled so that current is drawn from the electrode and flows out the side of the cell through the dielectric constant.
