The original Loctite instant adhesive gel formula cures instantly to form a strong, second skin type bond. It permanently adheres to aluminum, steel, fibreglass, wood, vinyl, polyethylene, foam, plastic wrap, and many other polymers. At room temperature, it will not become brittle or harden. Excellent resiliency allows it to withstand wide fluctuations in temperature (from -65 to 180C). A key ingredient, purified PTFE, significantly increases the adhesive properties of the gel. The main disadvantage of solvent-based adhesive gels is that they leave a sticky residue. Quicktite Gel eliminates the mess, clean-up, and residue problems of traditional solvent-based adhesives, and can be used in cold, damp conditions or over moist and porous materials. It also provides excellent UV resistance, and will not become brittle with age. The main disadvantage of solvent-based adhesive gels is that they require a main energy source to initiate the cure, which usually takes place within seconds of application. Additional product information: For best results, apply the Instant Adhesive Gel to a clean, dry surface. Allow full cure time is dependent on the temperature of the environment and the materials being joined. For optimal performance, admixtures should be compatible with the plastics being joined.
