Discs feature either a Versapor* membrane or a combination of a membrane and a hollow fiber filter in the same unit, providing increased functionality. Membrane can be used with either sterile water or distilled water. The 25 mm I.D. Is suitable for use in sterile water, making the I.D. suitable for use in sterile water. The filter area is sufficiently large to permit accurate withdrawal of the syringe into a 50 mL water bottle, and the medium is sufficiently light to permit dilution in a 50 mL volume water bottle. The I.D. is consistent and reliable, so the user can be confident in the sterility of the I.D. Pall Life Sciences Acrodisc Syringe Filters are an economical means to achieve high sterility in water and sterility testing procedures. Syringes are color-coded, and color-coded caps attached to the disc and ring accommodate single-size filter cartridges. Filters feature a unique, patented, countour-fiber filter center located on the outer surface of a cellulose filter paper disk. The filter center is free-flowing, and the discs are molded on an aluminum base. To apply, squeeze one filter onto the membrane center, and then apply light pressure with the plunger of the filter against the membrane. The filter center and the membrane become increasingly clear as the depth of the disc decreases.
