The unique square shape of the capsule keeps the filter completely round for a better flow, eliminating so-called "knife edge" clogs. The filter retainer keeps the nut from moving when the capsule is inserted into the can. The filter is 'capsule-shaped' so water passes completely through the can and the capsule opening closes automatically when the end of the filter nears the surface of the water. With this design, the water passes through the filter without clogging.
