The Nomex Original Construction Turnout is engineered to provide complete protection and functionality. The hood is tailored from a single piece of Nomex to provide firefighter's complete head, neck and crotch area protection. This construction also provides maximum fire flow prevention when worn over a respirator with a half turn or less turn hose. The hood features a wider, deeper hood and an increased face opening area that allows easy donning over turn hose and also provides a snug fit around the face and SCBA masks. The hood also features a bias bound bottom edge, self bias binding, and the bottom edge of the hood is bound with self material bias binding. The hood can also be converted from a donning hood to a full turnaround hood by simply turning the hood over and donning a new, smaller hood. This allows firefighters to save their coats, shirts and jackets for donning the hood. The feature also works when donning turnouts with an increased face opening as the need to protect the head and neck area arises. With these features the Nomex Original can effectively protect firefighters for an extended period of time.

Features of COBRA CLASSIC Fire Hood, 100% Nomex:

• Outer shell is 100% Nomex®/(Meta-Aramid) - approx. 7oz sq yd.
• Composed of two layers throughout.
• Seamed from top of face opening to bottom back then cover-stitched for extra strength.
• Face opening is circular in shape and serged with x-heavy duty 1/2" wide elastic around the perimeter. The elastic is then folded back 1/2" and cover stitched. The face opening stretches a full 16" (which is 25% more than conventional hoods) for easy donning and a snug fit around face of SCBA mask. Face opening maintains original shape after repeated launderings.
• The bottom edge of hood is bound with self-material bias binding.
• Shoulders are contoured on each side allowing the hood to lie flat on the chest and back for maximum coverage.
• Each hood is clearly labeled to identify material contents, NFPA acceptance, UL Classification, Date of Manufacture, and Care Instructions. Included with each hood is a complete users information guide.
• Meets or Exceeds Industry Standards
• UL classified to meet or exceed NFPA 1971 - Current Edition; Compliant with CAL-OSHA Sections 3406 and 3410(d) and OSHA Rule 29 CFR, Part 1910, 269.
