You can, but it is easier to use in darker light.

Would this work for someone who is color blind?

The Bloodhunter HD uses a custom optical filter that reduces select colors in order to amplify blood. Without knowing exactly what colors the Bloodhunter HD filters or how it does it or the level or degree of colorblindness a person is suffering from I can't exactly say whether or not this will work. Was skeptical, but used it 1st time and worked great! Couldn’t find any blood after my buddy shot a nice buck. Grabbed the blood light and found blood in 2 minutes after looking for over an hour with just a regular flashlight.

Didn't have to track a deer, so to test the light, I drug the bloody hide for about 10 yards, and then went back with the light. You could see a definite difference in the color of the leaves where the hide had been.
