The Perkins PSS Shaft Seal 1-1/8" 1-3/4" Tube is a 100% water tight seal that helps eliminate bilge water (100% water tight) and wear to the propeller shaft. The Perkins PSS 1-1/8" 1-3/4" Stern Tube is made of high strength thermoplastic that is impervious to seawater and other aggressive natural environment. This makes the 1-1/8" shaft seal perfect for applications with high thrust, high speed, centrifugal or torque motions. Perkins 1-1/8" Shaft Seals install easily onto shafts ranging from 3/4" (20mm) to 6" (150mm). A stern tube, flange, and collar are required to complete installation. The cost of installing the PSS per hour is negligible when installed properly. Further, the maintenance that is required is minimal and the cost of repairing a worn packing gland can be significant. The cost of replacing a worn packing gland is approximately one per year. The PSS shaft seal should not be installed where a rudder or rudder cover will be in line with the seal.
