Are these 1/2" or 5/8" inch

The previous answer is incorrect. These are Barrel nut shims for timing the gas tube slots in the barrel nut to match up with the gas tube port in the upper reciever. These are NOT muzzle device timing shims.

when your putting something like a muzzle break on, it may need to be oriented correctly. Ports up, for example. These allow you to torque it down at the correct position, along with your crush washer.
