Hi there! I once ordered the AO frames in all black (57mm). I'd like to get them as Rx glasses and wonder if you still carry them?

Unfortunately a few years back AO started coating the black frames and it did work well at all so they just completely wiped out the black frames. We haven't been able to order them for a couple years.

Is it possible to get these glasses photo grey prescription? I found the military issue back in the 60s very sturdy.

Yes, there is an option to select a Transition lens. However you can only see these options on an actual PC (mobile devices will not work).

How much would it cost to replace CR-39 lenses, grey, anti scratch, UV block, if needed or would I just reorder the whole frame/lenses?

We can make new RX lenses for your frame but you’ll need to send us an email at eyewear@opticsplanet.com with all your lens options and your RX for a lens quote and some instructions.

Because AO offers frame only in most cases no AO demo lenses will come with your prescription glasses.

what is lens material CR-39

CR-39 lens material is a basic hard resin. The pro's are the visual clarity is really good for a plastic, they are pretty light, and they tint better than any other plastic. The con's are they scratch easy and may be thicker than other plastics.

My prescription calls for PD 65 (distance) and PD 62 (near). Which value do I use on the order form? Thank you

You will use the 65 for distance. The near is special to bifocals or progressives.

Are the prescription lenses made by AO?

No, the prescription lenses are filled through our house lab. AO does not offer a prescription program, in fact if you call them and ask...they will send you to us! :)
