if you have a battery pack,should you leave out the 4 double a battery's or would they act as a back up to the battery pack. — 2 Answers

While you don't need the batteries in the unit, I would probably leave them in the optic in case you have a momentary connection issue with the battery pack

I have several battery packs so I leave the AA batteries in to power the unit while I change the external power supply. It also helps if you knock the plug in wire loose.
