I've ordered this and took off the captive head and the ring that was holding it in place and it fits my 92x. Would this cause any major problems?

We do not advise using items in any other configuration other than the way the manufacturer intended. We recommend reaching out to Beretta for confirmation.

No, this will not be compatible. For the M9A1 you will need a guide rod and spring that is not captured.
