This muzzle device reduces both flash and muzzle rise, so it works as both a flash hider and a compensator.

Sorry as I may be late in responding but I also live behind enemy lines here in Massachusetts and from what I was told as long as 1) the manufacturer does not list it as a "flas hider" it's gtg and 2) if you can't fit your pinky finger into the tip, it's gtg. I would check with a locally FFL and if no definite answer from them then listen to the gentleman that told you to check with local authorities.
