No, these inserts can be used with other brands of rings

Yes, you need Burris rings, as the rings need to be cupped to accept the inserts. Not just any old Burris rings, they need to be made for the inserts. Burris Signature and XTR Signature rings. i use these and really like the adjustability and will be changing out some of my non-Signature rings.
