The 870 will hold five 2 3/4" shells (including 1 in chamber). Our 7 shot extension allows the gun to hold 7 total shells with one in the chamber which means this allows to add 2 more shells. So the 8 Shot extension item# 04500 allows you to add 3 shells to the gun.
