1090 is a good knife steal I think it maybe 1090 carbon steal if it is the steal is about the best but only if its temperd well. A steal is only as good as it is temperd. It has to be a cearten temperature and then quenched in oil and I have seen water temperd but the blade smith would have to know what hes doing.
