I was told that this will fit on the sig sauer 320 m17 platform can someone confirm this.

No, the M17 is drilled and tapped specifically for the Leupold DeltaPoint Pro, which has a different mounting pattern, as that is the optic selected by the US Army for their MHS (Modular Handgun System) program.

Will this fit a sig 320 x5

The current X5 will only accept a Romeo1. I know this because I put one together for my brother. Sig is going to an industry standard size on there pistols though. The new size is the Romeo1T which is described as the same pattern as the DeltaPoint Pro (much larger than the original romeo1 pattern on your X5). I have one on a G19.
