It is compatible with drop in hanguards, however the Magpul MOE handguard is designed for use with an A2 style fixed front sight.
I have a non adjustable picatinny railed gas block that works just fine with the standard magpul drop in handguard. For the SL handguard you may have to dremel a bit from the top piece of the handguard to get it to set properly.
