The orientation of the mount should not affect whether it can seat and properly lock up. It will only be affected if you for some reason has something on the rail that will obstruct it. If its going on an AR flat top, there should be no reason you shouldn't be able to properly lock up the mount.

Depends on how close you place your RDS to the G33. If you try to kiss them together which is ideal the lever absolutely will not close all the way. Some have suggested trimming the lever down (nasty) or you can spend the $200 and buy the G33 mount that LaRue makes; the throw lever on that doesn't exceed the dimension of the mount so it doesn't interfere. That said the operation now involves pulling the optic towards you over a detent and then throw to the side. If you want it to look clean this is the best solution but it's +$200 which stings.
