I know the response is somewhat late, but may help some other purchases. I went to our local shop and looked at these scopes. The quality and clarity felt and looked equivalent to the $2,000-$2,500 scopes in the store, but for a fraction of the price. The entire H-59 reticle is not illuminated, but there are certain points illuminated on it. There are about 8-10 vertical dots evenly spread out evenly on the “0 line” that illuminate individually. There are another 6-10 reference points that are evenly distributed among the remainder of the reticle that seem to be strategically positioned by Eotech. Sorry it’s not more accurate with the number or location, but I found it to be less of a distraction and less stimulating to my eyes when when compared to the other scopes in the store. We looked at them inside and out on a sunny day, and my eyes felt more relaxed and favored the simplicity of this reticle illumination.
