No, you would have to at least match the carrier to your magazine type. If your lower is a Colt SMG-style lower, you will need a Colt compatible bolt carrier, and if you have a Glock-style lower, you will need a Glock compatible bolt carrier. There are also some carriers, such as the Faxon one, that will work with both Colt and Glock magazines. The barrels themselves are the same.
