Can a loaded magazine be in the gun while in the safe?

It should fit with an AR with a 10 round magazine in the magwell, however larger capacity magazines may not fit.

As I lost the tip of my right hand trigger finger, stubby shoots fine thank you, would I need to use my left hand or would this read three out of four

The biometric finger scanner portion of this safe only reads one finger and it is below the index finger push button. You can set it up for any finger you choose, it should still be able to read a portion of your index finger if you so choose. The 4 push buttons are the digital portion of the safe's key pad.

The manufacturer lists that this fits a standard AR-15 pattern rifle and must have a tube type collapsible stock in order to be compatible.
