This appears more to be riot gear that the police wear. The outside is plain polyethylene that is effective against rocks and other hand thrown projectiles that rioters use against police. High Molecular Polyethylene is used by our military and it will stop bullets, but this armor is not as strong. It will protect you in a riot but forget about stopping gunfire.
