It is recommended for air rifles, as the durability may not be sturdy enough for larger calibers.

Sorry but, Ben's answer is incorrect. Every Hawke Airmax scope is rated for ALL calibers. As a rule of thumb scopes that are rated for spring piston airguns are very durable and have the ability to withstand more energy than most High-End optics without the spring piston rating. Use with confidence!

The answer provided by Ben is incorrect. Every Hawke Airmax scope is ALL caliber rated. As a general rule of thumb, any air rifle scope that is rated for spring piston airguns will tolerate most if not all rifle calibers including magnum loads.
