i believe the california compliant has an insert placed into the finger grip. see the tan model. this allows only the hand stop function.

."The manufacturer specifically calls it a "front grip" and makes no mention of vertical or angled. We can't give a definite answer as the manufacturer does not provide an answer as it is likely a bit of both."
