U-Mount refers to HSGI's Universal Clips used to mount these on MOLLE webbing.

The HSGI U-Mount allows the pouch to be attached to a Mil-Spec Pouch Attachment Ladder System, OR attachment to a pistol belt that is 1.5" to 2" in width. The website for HSGI has a video showing how it works.
