Will this spring work for .556 cal or is it only for 308?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Ethan C., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on June 18, 2019

These are the AR-15 springs for .223/5.56 (as well as similar calibers such as .300 Blackout). You can find the .308 version here: https://www.opticsplanet.com/jp-enterprises-308-tuned-and-polished-buffer-spring.html

Will this work for AR Pistol?

A
Answered by Aggieman12, member, from TX, United States, on April 05, 2019

As long as everything else is correct, there shouldn’t be a problem. In other words, if it would function with a standard spring then swapping it out for the JP equivalent shouldn’t cause any issues. There are caveats for anything, but this is generally correct.

If you’re building your own pistol then do your homework because buffer weight is important given your gas system/barrel length/caliber/etc. Plenty of variables.
