Honestly I would email us at techsales@opticsplanet.com with some pictures so we can help you out more in detail. But, if the adapter is tight to the barrel, it shouldn't matter if there's still threads visible.

You do not want the adapter to index against the front sight as the front sight is not aligned to the bore in 99% of aks and could cause strikes more specifically baffle strikes if you’re using a suppressor indexing on the bore itself provides the safest opportunities for the round to clear muzzle devices and suppressors alike

The adapter is supposed to index on the muzzle of the barrel, and NOT the rear sight base. To ensure best possible angular alignment of a muzzle device.
