Yes, the Leupold VX-Freedom Scout 1.5-4x28mm Rifle Scope would work for a .308 at those distances. In order to mount the Leupold VX-Freedom Scout 1.5-4x28mm Rifle Scope to a Winchester Model 70 the scope base listed at the first link below will work. At the second link is a set of 1" diameter low rings that will mount to the scope base and work well with that set up.
