The difference between the two is the weight.

According to the Maxim catalog, the MXM-47554/47555 come with a PISTOL buffer weight (9mm), which is 7.6 ounces. In other words, do not buy this one for 5.56 or 300 AAC. Yes, the OP description is very vague and confusing.
