Would this stock be compatible with a Freedom Ordnance FX9?

Answered by Hunter, Gear Expert, from OH, United States, on November 29, 2022

The Maxim Defense Industries CQB Stock Gen 6 for AR-15 might work with an FX-9. However, due to the receiver design the Maxim Defense Industries CQB Stock Gen 6 for AR-15 arms may not fit. I recommend contacting Freedom Ordnance to confirm compatibility. Also this is considered a stock, so if you have an FX-9 Pistol ensure you follow all laws regarding stocks on AR Pistols.

Maxim Defense makes CQB and PQD stocks and braces that all have the same general design. This product is a stock and can only be mounted on firearms with barrels +16" in length. Mounting this Maxim CQB stock on firearms with barrels shorter than 16" will change the NFA classification of your firearm and make it subject to further NFA regulation.

For a 5" barrel, check out the Maxim Defense CQB Pistol PDW Brace - it uses a standard BCG in conjunction with the proprietary Maxim buffer and buffer spring included with the brace.

Is this compatible with Rock River Arms LAR-8 (AR1-, .308)?

A
Answered by Brandon, member, from UT, United States, on January 21, 2021

In short, the answer is no. The buffer tube may thread on, but the length of the tube is designed to accommodate AR-15 length bolt carrier groups - the additional length of the AR-10 BCG could cause some serious issues. To go even further, Maxim provides a standard 3.3 oz. buffer and spring with this kit - incompatible with the AR-10 platform. Even the heavier buffer weights Maxim has available do not match up to meet the standard 5.4 oz. weight of the AR-10.

These only come with the standard spring and buffer, however you can replace it with the Silent Capture System with one of these: https://www.opticsplanet.com/maxim-defense-industries-jp-silent-captured-spring.html
