How much moonlight do you have? On a clear night w/ full moon, it might get up to the 250m I seem to remember from somewhere in the docs or item description. But with only 35lp/mm resolution of the intensifier tube, you'd be limited to shooting well defined [black bullseye on white b/g] paper targets at that distance. Typically the best you'll get out of a Gen 1 device with adequate illumination [full moon or a good, high output IR light] is ~ 100yds. Sufficient for anti-predation against coyotes or hogs. On darker nights, it's going to be dependent upon the amount of illumination you bring with you; this costs a lot less than the cheapest Gen2 NV for a reason!
