For the demo model? What are the cons to purchasing it rather than a 100$ new one?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Tiffany S., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on June 04, 2019

Most DEMO items listed on our site are factory refurbished models while others were previously unpacked and used for testing, display, sampling, training or demonstration purposes by the manufacturer or us. The only Cons would be that the product may not be in perfect cosmetic condition, but should still be in working order, and also may not include all of the new accessories that the new units do.

How does this compare to the M-308 Nikon scope (for .308 caliber).

Expert Answer

Answered by Ethan C., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on December 18, 2018

They are essentially the same scope (the M in M-308 actually stands for Monarch), but the M-308 gets tactical turrets instead of capped turrets, and is pre-calibrated for the .308 round.

how tall of mount needed for this on AR upper with same height handrail?

Expert Answer
A
Answered by Ethan C., Gear Expert, from IL, United States, on May 17, 2018

AR rifles require an extra high mount due to the stock being nearly level with top of the rifle (keeping your head from getting level with a lower scope mount). 1.5" is the height for absolute co-witness with iron sights (if your rifle has them), and 1.75" or similar is the height for lower 1/3rd co-witness with iron sights.

A 2" offset should be sufficient but a 3" offset will work too. These are a popular option: https://www.opticsplanet.com/vortex-cantilever-ring-mount-for-1-inch-tube.html

Nikon does not offer a sunshade that is listed compatible with this specific scope. They do however offer an ARD attachment for this scope, here is a link to it:
