I had to take something thin and knock that little ripple down for mine to close. Also heard moving the bcg backwards or something does the trick.

I sent my hammer forward then put my upper on and it went on as smooth as butter.

When you go to close the upper down, just pull the charging handle back just a small bit and the rear pin will slide right in. I do this with mine.

There are many different ways of closing the upper with the FRT installed. The short lever that connects with the bolt carrier needs to move forward very slightly as it interferes with the bolt carrier (by design). To accomplish this you can either use something like a credit card to go in-between the upper and lower and slide it forward to depress the lever while at the same time pressing the upper down. For me it is easier to drop the hammer into the fired position (pull trigger and push forward on the small lever at the same time). Then, while the safety is in the semi position, pull the trigger and you will notice that the small lever slightly moves forward. This is all it takes to get it out of the way and you can close the upper.

Pull and hold the trigger, don't let it reset... close the upper and pin it.

Just pull the trigger, slowly assist the hammer forward to the fired position, closet the upper down gently, then pull the charging handle back a couple times gently to see that now it is closed and it cycles smoothly. That’s is how I close mine everytime. Remember to trip that lever, so that when you pull the trigger the hammer will release. That is something that has to be done if you have the upper removed, no more just pulling the trigger and catching the hammer. That lever that is in the way when trying to close it with the hammer cocked, is the lever you have to trip to pull the trigger. You could try and press that lever forward in front of your BCG when closing it with the hammer cocked, but it’s a pain in the butt, it’s easier to do it my way, for me anyway.

thanks for the answer. After playing with it I discovered that instead of connecting the pivot pin and then the takedown pin, its better to sit the upper on top of the lower and a little forward of the pivot pin. Then retract the BCG partially into the buffer tube so it clears the hinged knob that has to pivot forward. Then connect the takedown pin first to hold it in place followed by the pivot pin.

It’s really simple just make sure the loose hooked piece of metal is forward toward the hammer and then it will close. If you have it back the gun won’t close.
