Yes, it will work just fine and you don't always have to use full power, but the extra magnification is there if needed.

The ACSS is now available in prism 1x and 2x scopes as well from Primary Arms. I bought a Gemini and liked it so much I went ahead and grabbed the 5.56 version 1-6x based on my experience.
