Yes, this should also work well as a hiking stick.

I used one of these for a few seasons and found that it did not really work for a walking stick. With maybe 40-50lbs of force the stick would collapse. I often used it as a hiking stick, but with great limitation. The seals finally gave out on the one I had, but I am ordering an new one after trying another brand with cam lock type adjusters, which worked great for a hiking stick, but not so great for hunting. I like the Primos for the ease, silence, and quickness of adjustment.
