Does the backup battery only work once? I was able to open the safe with the backup battery but then closed it and now it will not open again.

How do you open it with a complete battery failure?

If the batteries completely die, the safe will not work. You would have to use the backup battery pack that can be inserted to power up the safe.

What is the width from ventilation door to back wall? As you should have this for us to know how much you can ACTUALLY store inside of it!?

The interior dimensions are 14.25" x 6.5" x 3.5"

How are these powered?

These are powered by Four AA Batteries. A backup battery pack is also included.
