Yes, this will carry side plates, how high they sit will depend on the size of the plates, but they slide just about all the way down in the side panel.

I own one of these and buying a pair of LAPD lvl 4 cermetic plates. The sizes I looked up said that they will fit. But I am wondering if anyone else owns the same plates and carrier and could tell me yes lol. Thanks
