The Shellback Tactical Prevail Series Model 1155 Level IV 10 x 12 Hard Armor Plates according to the manufacturer are constructed of monolithic ceramic face and polyethylene backing.

does this take side armor panels and what size are they

It sure does.

You can insert soft armor panels into the cummerbund.

Size recommendation is 13.75" Wide x 5.50" Tall
