Can I use a normal 3.5mm to 3.5mm audio cable with these or do I have to buy the manufacturer version for some reason?

You do not have to use the manufacturer cable, however in order to use the in line microphone you will need to use a 3 ring style cable.

Will this unit work with the Baofeng BF-F9V2+ and the Yaesu FT-60

It will not work with the Baofeng BF-F9V2+ but it should work with the Yaesu FT-60.
