Depends on which version you get. Mine had the mounting rings screw directly on to the alt-az mount. This is the most stable method, the scope has virtually no wobble to it( a HUGE problem with most other $400 scopes). A dovetail style bar is available for easy transfer to other mounts but mine did not come with one.
